How can massage and bodywork help me?

Whether you have back, neck, or any other kind of physical pain massage therapy can help. Massage is one of THE best methods of relieving physical pain without the use of medication. Most of us know when our pain is from an injury or accident. But we don't always realize that emotional pain can manifest in the body. Conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD or grief often cause physical symptoms.

Does massage hurt?

Massage should never cause you more pain! There is a certain level of what some people describe as a "good pain." Some even describe that "hurts so good" feeling, when you are in the right spots. But the pressure should never be so deep that it causes you to hold your breath or tense up. We use a relative pressure scale to make sure the pressure is appropriate for you. If at any time you are feeling pain or feeling uncomfortable during your session we want to know so we can adjust. Your comfort is our utmost priority!

What should I expect in my first session?

We love getting to introduce people to all the amazing benefits of massage! You’ll want to be sure to arrive 10-15 minutes early. Your therapist will greet you and bring you into a private treatment room. This gives your therapist time to review your intake form and discuss your goals for the session. After which they will let you know how to get onto the table, and leave so you can undress to your own comfort level. You will be underneath a sheet and/or blanket, and the therapist will undrape and treat one area at a time. Once the therapist returns they’ll check in with your comfort and start your massage. As the massage progresses your therapist will use a pressure scale to check in on you and adjust as needed. Your therapist will track time and progress towards the goals you set for your session. They'll include you in decisions about any adjustments needed to the plan. When your session ends your therapist will let you know they are going to leave the room so you can get dressed. Last, they’ll recap the session with you, discuss a recommended treatment plan, and get you checked out.

Do I have to take off my clothes?

Your comfort is our utmost priority. You are under a sheet at all times, and our therapists only uncover the specific area they are working on. We treat some clients clothed, and some who feel most comfortable nude under the sheets. Most tend to keep on just their bottom undergarments. It is up to you and your level of comfort. Your therapist will work with you to ensure the draping keeps your modesty safe and secure at all times.
